Every day is an adventure... dress accordingly!

What Would You Do If I Sang Out of Tune?

After torrential rains dampened our travels but never our spirits, Mother Nature blessed us with a day of sunshine and warm temperatures on Thursday. This had to be celebrated, and thus my downtown adventure began.

On my way to the subway to meet my good friend Patrick, I stumbled upon my longtime crush, Mr. Johnny Depp, in wax form and felt the urge to have photographic proof that we would totally be the cutest couple ever…after all, he was just standing there! In the midst of throngs of Asian tourists, my dreams came true, even for a fleeting moment.

Next, Patrick and I indulged in delicious burgers at The Corner Bistro. I’ve never been before, but this no-frills, cash only establishment is big on old-school charm. As we sat at the bar, we were involuntarily engaged in conversation betwixt regulars about racism, Times Square through the years and the non-reality of reality television. In between burger bites, I spotted a messy stack of books caged in stained glass windows behind the bar, one being Danica McKellar’s geometry book. Hmmmmmm, very interesting.

After, I craved coffee from one of my favorite places nearby in the West Village, The Upright Brewhouse. Now, I’m not a beer fan personally, but they have an insane selection of microbrews that attracts many. The Lavender Latte is my absolute favorite there, infused with French lavender and fresh, housemade almond milk. They also have cold-brewed coffee from a tap that you must have if you’re feeling an iced jolt. We indulged in some sweetness in the form of classic ice-cream sandwiches made with chocolate chip walnut cookies to fully complete our lunch extravaganza.

Lesson of today’s adventure: Gluttony and trends – everything in moderation and with a little help from your friends.
