Central Park

Embracing the Unknown

The next few weeks and months are full of many transitions in my life. Rather than being apprehensive about the inevitable, I’m embracing it head on. With that said, after years of rocking the same predictable hairstyle, I decided I needed a rejuvenation of the follicles as well, and let hair stylist to the stars, Louise O’Connor, take creative control over my new mane.

Prior to the big chop, we decided to have some fun with my hair, playing up the untamed, wildness that it truly is. Some wild feathers peppered with references to Junya Watanabe’s incredible Spring 2014 show left us with an incredible cloud of crimped unruliness.

While donning some fitting armor, we took the adventure to the streets and ended up in the beautiful Central Park.

Here, we took in the breathtaking views and really appreciated the untamed look. During our mini-trek, I made the acquaintance of a super sweet photographer who has recently made his own changes by moving to NYC from Miami in pursuit of his wildest dreams. We crossed paths for a moment, yet captured it so perfectly with his talented eye.

I thought of this day as a type of ceremonious adieu to the old version of myself, a bohemian shedding of my security blanket of hair and security blankets in general. Change is constant and, if welcomed and accepted, can be quite fabulous. I’m stepping forward, one heelless shoe at a time, to wherever my new paths will lead me and taking in huge breaths of fresh air along the way.
